A walk through memory lane

Had a night's out walking through memory lane just now. =)
It started at MAC!!=P Haha..had my favourate double cheese burger meal(yeah beef!!) and then walked from this MAC near bras basah to esplanade. Wanted to walk to shears bridge but realised its under renovation!(oh gosh, how long havent i been around?). Esplanade, a place where i always hang out. Hee..with all my great pals! AND...so we walked the other direction and eventually the Victoria Concert Hall.
Wow..tons of wonderful memories flashed in my mind. I can visualised myself in the VCH, before entering and when my event ended. The feelings still so clear and strong in me....

*Time flies back to 5 years ago~*
Wow, still remember getting all fussed up about my black gown and the white scarf. So all excited about my 1st choir concert in VCH! I still remember, putting on makeup in AJ's study room when my class was having PE lessons! Boarding the school bus, sharing the excitement with my choir mates. When we reached, we went to the makeup room and continue doing our hair, makeups, changing and running around barefooted at backstage while the seats filled up. Hahaha xD So damn funny! I wonder how come it takes forever to finish getting ready!
Still remember, when my friend came down to support me. While i was getting nervous about it i heard:" RY!!Someone's looking for you outside!".

And so i went out towards the main corridoor. My friend wore a full black with a white jacket. Got to admit, he looked great! =P And as always, he gave me an ensuring look, gave me a pat on my shoulder and told me something encouraging. (forgot what it is) And that support, really gave me more strength. At least i know someone down at the audience is supporting me.
You know, being at this place and on stage and when one mistake you made will affect the whole team, you feel this sense of great pressure too. My first choir musical concert..and he was the only one i know down there..i'm so thankful for him being there! And the concert was great!! Wow...

SYF - Tremendous hard work and practise 4-5 times a week. All the preparations/trainings and how nervous we are when we arrived at VCH that day. I saw a few other of my friends from SRJC, NYJC, NJC, VJC..everyone was so formal and serious that day. It's a very important day for all of us. We continued tuning ourselves, warming up and doing our last revision while waiting for our turn. We were the last choir for the day...waited and waited..delayed for like 2 hours!! The longer the wait, the more nervous we got. Then everyone started getting paranoid.HAHA!!

YES!!Finally our turn!!Even walking up the stage and platform seemed like the toughest task. So nervous. I'm so worried for everyone and myself of falling down even before we started!!*phew* So we started. So sudden. I was so so nervous loh!I thought i feel my whole body shaking like mad. Lucky my voice still came out strong and clear. Lucky never off pitch!wahaha.. and the 3 songs sang by..Sing joyfully, Spendour falls, Shannadoah..I really impressed at ourselves too.=P Wah sey, for 2nd song hor, ONE of the tenor3 screwed up the very 1st note. Heard his voice broke so obviously loh..and all of us including the conductor was damn shocked. Our conductor gave a screwed face and in our minds, we went..oh shit! However, we did all the songs almost perfectly!

THought we blew our gold le.But when they annouced the results(somemore we last to annouce)...and the last school...Anderson Junior College...they achieved a.....(and it takes like forever!!) GOLD!!!!!!! WOW!!!! ALL of us just jump up of our seats and like mad women and men, screamed like hell!!Went around hugging everyone and jumped about!!! The cheering cant stop and the happiness was too great to control!! We were all desponded and disappointed right after the presentation coz' we all thought we screwed it up with that one mistake earlier. But the results gave recognisation to our efforts and great performance!!!! WOW...its hard to really put down the feelings here...its just too great...too good to be true yet it is!! =DDDDD Just this, is enough to make me smile when i think of this.

What a wonderful experience. Im so glad that i've joined. im so glad that i've been through all these. Without this, i never know, how great it feels when your effort and hard work pays off. How good it feels, when there are people who appreciate your effort and your presentations.....=)) and how great a feeling can go...=P wonderful~

  • yea.. i have similar nostalgic flashbacks whenever i am at vch or singapore conference hall.. The prayers my sch had before competition, the little pat on each other shoulders, adjusting of each other bow ties and blazers. And finally the confidence on stage, knowing that support is there from everyone, out to give their very best... That musical moments, and the beautiful memories, had made my otherwise mundane life all worthwhile...

  • Hhmm I dun go to that area anymore. But I remember more of rehearsals there than the actual performances or competitions. More light-hearted lah... haha.. wearing shirt and pants, tie even and looking so smart and still fooling around like the teenagers we were.
